Facts about Mount Kilimanjaro

Many people climb Mount Kilimanjaro each year. Nearly everyone knows what an experience it is, and how great the view is from the top. The Trio of Volcanic Cones

Mount Kilimanjaro is actually made up from three large volcanic cones. These have been named by the locals as Mawenzi, Shira and Kibo. People state that Kibo could erupt again one day, but this doesn’t put people off making the climb. The last known eruption was over 360,000 years ago, so they feel relatively safe.

Anyone can climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Bernard Goosen from South Africa has scaled the wonders of this mountain twice, and he did it in a wheelchair. It is a very famous tourist destination. Much of the mountain has diminished as a result of global warming, but it is still a sight to be seen. By hiring local guides, you are supporting the very community that makes this mountain stand apart from the rest.
